Grey Quartz Countertops to match your Aesthetic

By | Blog

Grey Quartz countertops are a popular choice for homeowners looking for something a little different. Quartz countertops are durable, making them ideal for kitchen surfaces and bathroom vanities. They’re also easy to clean, which makes them perfect for any household with kids or pets! But you’ll need to find the right grey quartz color that matches your aesthetic. So let’s take a look at some of our favorite selections:

Take a look at these gorgeous grey quartz countertops!

Quartz countertops are a great option if you’re looking to update your kitchen or bathroom. Quartz is a durable material that will resist stains and scratches better than most other types of countertops. It’s also easy to care for—you can wipe it with soap and water without damaging its surface.

Quartz comes in many different colors, including grey quartz, white quartz and black quartz. Grey quartz has a subtle sheen that’s perfect for any style of decorating (whether you’re going for traditional or contemporary). You’ll find light grey options that have just enough color variation to make them interesting but not so much as to overpower your kitchen space; dark grey quartz offers more contrast against surrounding surfaces; medium grey gives off an industrial vibe; and charcoal grey gives kitchens a sleek look without being overly bright or shiny.

Poblenou quartz countertops are a light grey quartz with white undertones. If you’re looking for quartz countertops that will complement your modern aesthetic, this is a great choice. Poblenou is also perfect for kitchens, bathrooms and other areas where you want to create an airy space. It can be used as a kitchen island or bathroom vanity top; it’s even great on walls!

Naturally resistant to stain damage, this quartz has all the beauty of natural stone without any of the upkeep.

This combination will give your kitchen an airy feel that works well for both small spaces and large open layouts alike!

Vena Carbona

Vena Carbona is a grey quartz countertop that is a cool grey with a hint of blue. This stone is great for those who love the modern aesthetic, but it also goes well in more rustic kitchens as well. It’s perfect for anyone looking to add some color without going overboard, and it goes especially well with other shades of grey and even white cabinets!

The difference between Quartz and Granite

By | Blog

One of the biggest questions we hear in our showrooms is “what’s the difference?” And we get it- with so many options to choose from, knowing what sets them apart is the first step towards choosing the right material for your lifestyle. At Onslow Stoneworks, we have the answers. Starting with Quartz and Granite, we can tell you anything you might need to know when it comes to the appearance, durability, and maintenance of each material.

Granite is a natural stone, while quartz is man-made. This means that granite comes in a variety of naturally beautiful colors and patterns that are more uniform than quartz, which has a wider range of colors. Granite also has a more natural appearance: looking at it closely, you can see unique textures and veins within the stone. No two granite slabs will be identical. Quartz will have an even-toned color throughout its surface (which makes it easier to clean), and can easily replicate patterns like marble. Because it is man-made, it can be easier to find the right slab of material compared to granite, as you can easily customize quartz to your liking.

Both quartz and granite are extremely durable, but granite is more heat resistant than that of quartz. Granite is also resistant to scratches and staining, but when it comes to comparison, quartz takes the cake.
Quartz is much harder than granite, so it is much more resistant to stains and scratches. Unlike natural stone, like granite, because of quartz’s non-porous nature, it is able to protect itself from liquids seeping into the surface which helps fight stains and other unwanted bacteria and odors. Although quartz is very tough when it comes to stains and scratches, you might want to keep those heat pads on hand and never place hot cooking materials directly on your quartz countertops, as these surfaces are not as heat resistant as granite countertops!

Granite is easy to maintain, just clean with warm water and mild soap. We do recommend granite be resealed every few years, as doing so will help keep the countertops not only shiny and polished, but its porous nature to be protected. Quartz requires little to no maintenance nor sealant as it is a non-porous stone that does not absorb stains or odors.

The main difference between the two materials really comes down to your lifestyle and what you need out of your countertops. We’re happy to help you with your next home project, so make sure to contact us with any further questions!

Everything You Need To Know About Recycled Surfaces

By | Blog

According to, conservation and reused materials were both big themes at this year’s Kitchen and Bath Industry Show! With sustainability being one of the key trends at KBIS 2022, it’s safe to say that going green isn’t going anywhere anytime soon!

Customizable and eco-friendly, recycled countertop surfaces are easy to maintain and look great in any space.

Perks and Benefits:

These unique surfaces are composed of recycled glass and quartz and bound by resin. By choosing recycled surfaces you are not only cutting down on our planet’s waste, but you are also choosing a surface that will benefit your family and their health. Similar to quartz countertops, recycled surfaces are non-porous, making them a top choice for keeping bacteria away. These eco-friendly surfaces are also very durable as they are heat and stain-resistant.

Not only are recycled surfaces well-loved because of their durability but also because of their low maintenance! Routine cleaning requires only a soft cloth, mild soap, and warm water. Although this countertop material is stain resistant, it’s not completely stain-proof. To prevent stains, spills should be cleaned as soon as possible. For stubborn stains, you can use a non-abrasive brush. Always remember to use hot pads, trivets, cutting boards, and coasters for additional protection to ensure the longevity of your countertops.

Eco Friendly Kitchen Countertops

Sealing and Finishes

As mentioned above, recycled surfaces are non-porous and do not require sealing. Like other countertop options, this material can also come in different finishes. Finish options include gloss, semi-gloss, and leathered.

Recycled Surfaces are available in a variety of designs and patterns that elevate the look of any room. A great choice for residential and commercial spaces, these surfaces are commonly used indoors as countertops, vanity tops, bar tops, fireplace surrounds and tub decks, wall cladding, entryways, and shower surrounds.

Four Home Renovations to Consider in 2022

By | Blog

With so many changes in the past couple of years, many homeowners have been faced with the need for more space. Keep reading to learn more about the leading home renovation projects for the upcoming year, according to experts.

1.Update Your Bathroom

According to a study conducted by Zillow and Realm, bathroom remodels are the most popular project homeowners are looking to tackle. A Houzz 2021 bath trends report also states that sinks and faucets are the most popular bathroom upgrade.

Updating your vanity is one of the quickest ways to change the look of your bathroom without undertaking an entire remodel and it’s budget-friendly. Customize your vanity with marble countertops to really turn your bathroom into a spa-like oasis!

2. Add More Storage

Doesn’t it feel like we’re always looking for additional kitchen storage? Increased kitchen storage is an absolute necessity in 2022. In the last few years, butler pantries have established themselves as one of the must-have items in modern homes. Upgrade your current kitchen pantry to include custom countertops, shelves, and drawers to create a functional and well-organized space.

Kitchen islands also work best when designed to your specific needs. Consider including built-ins or cabinets that allow you to get the most storage! Pair it with a natural stone or quartz countertop from Onslow Stoneworks to maximize your kitchen’s functionality!

3. Modernize Your Kitchen Appliances

When searching for a new home, most prospective homeowners say that they would spend more on a house with updated appliances. The trick is to go for quality pieces instead of focusing on trends.

Kitchen appliance trends may come and go, like air fryers or stand mixers. Focus on investing in the big appliances — your stove, fridge, dishwasher, etc. — before you splurge on the fun stuff.

4. Upgrade Your Lighting

New lighting is a simple way to refresh your outdated space. Statement lighting that focuses on unique designs, shapes, and sizes is big for 2022. Look for interesting pendant lights, retro Edison bulbs, or even think about putting in a chandelier.

Tips To Keep Your Kitchen Safe This Holiday Season

By | Blog

As the holiday parties commence and you scramble to prepare meals and feed guests, your kitchen is going to be working overtime this month. With more cooking, baking and people coming in and out of the kitchen, it’s crucial to ensure your space is as safe in order to avoid any accidents. Check out these 6 simple tips on how to keep your kitchen safe and your holidays happy!

1. Test Smoke Detectors

Before you start baking your holiday treats or signature dishes, make sure your smoke detectors are working properly and that the batteries have been replaced. Not only will this keep you and your guests safe from a potential fire, but you’ll also avoid hearing that annoying beeping sound during your party!

2. Unplug Appliances

Even when not turned on, small appliances continue to draw electricity when plugged into an electrical outlet. It is best to unplug any small appliance like toasters, coffee pots, slow-cookers and air fryers when they are not being used to avoid any potential hazards.

3. Dress the Part

When cooking, it’s best to wear close-fitting clothing that cannot easily get caught on handles. Use oven mitts if you are handling hot pots and pans. If you have long hair, be sure to keep it out of your way. Also try to avoid wearing loose jewelry, for extra precautions!

4. Be Mindful of Children

If children are included in your holidays, make sure to keep them away from the kitchen during cooking times. Hot stovetops and ovens, high-temperature foods, matches, lighters and candles are just a few of the potential dangers if not properly stored or managed – especially for children. These precautions should be extended to adults, too.

5. Invest in a Fire Extinguisher

Owning a fire extinguisher and keeping it close in your kitchen will prevent an unexpected kitchen fire from escalating too quickly. Store your fire extinguisher in a place that has easy access and let your family members know where it is located and inform them on the proper way to use it.

6. Stay Clutter-Free

Be sure to clean your cooking areas throughout the day, keeping them clear of food debris, utensils, dish towels and other materials that are easily flammable.

So next time you are in the kitchen prepping for friends and family to gather around in the kitchen, implement these easy tips to keep your holiday festivities disaster-free!

How To Budget for a Kitchen Remodel

By | Blog

You have taken your time perusing through design magazines and websites, creating images of your ideal kitchen in your mind. Now you have a mental picture of the kitchen you want, but then comes the elephant in the room: Budget. Budgeting for a kitchen remodel is not as enjoyable as choosing the best remodeling design, but poor budgeting can cause financial carnage. Here is how to successfully budget for a kitchen remodeling.

Setting the Budget

As per remodeling magazine 2005 cost versus value report, a high-end kitchen remodel can cost you an average of $82 000. However, this figure could go up or down depending on specific factors influenced mainly by your needs. When you have a design in mind, the first step is having an honest assessment of your finances and knowing how far they can take you and what design they can comfortably see-through.

Budget for the Unexpected

In your remodeling budget, have room for unseen or unexpected issues that may crop up. There are issues that may come up in a remodeling process, such as areas that will need repair but were unbudgeted for. After completing a draft budget, set up a percentage of it as miscellaneous expenses.

cabinetry trends 2021

Kitchen remodeling is an excellent way to make your kitchen more elegant and comfortable. Budgeting for a kitchen remodel is not an easy task but as a basic rule, draw a budget that can sustain the entire remodeling you want. Decide whether to do a complete overhaul or facelift depending on how long you wish to stay in the home, and always be careful not to overdo it.

Kitchen remodeling can not only give your kitchen a facelift, but it can also improve the value of the entire house. However, this is only if it is done right. Contact us for any queries on excellent kitchen remodeling.

5 Things to Consider When Choosing Natural Stone

By | Blog

Your kitchen is the heart of your home, and natural stone countertops can turn this hub into a beautiful gathering space for friends and family. Natural stone lasts a lifetime when properly cared for. Its durability can stand up to a well-lived life and busy household. Granite. marble, quartzite and more also come in a variety of colors and styles which makes it more than just a countertop,  but also a statement piece.

When you visit our showrooms, our goal is to find the stone that will work best for you. Keep reading to view the five things to consider that will help you choose the best countertop material depending on lifestyle and budget preferences.

Does my lifestyle affect what countertop material I should choose?

Your lifestyle is a big factor when it comes to your choice of stone. When you visit our showroom to browse our selection the goal is to understand the dynamics of your household and where the stone will be placed. Granite is a great place to start due to its high durability and variety of colors. If you are planning on installing the stone in your kitchen or in a space that is prone to spills or if you have children and entertain guests often, we suggest a mid to darker color to minimize the risk of staining.

What kind of maintenance and care does natural stone require?

Natural stone often gets the reputation of being indestructible which is not entirely true. Although it is extremely durable, natural stone will only last a lifetime if the it receives the proper care. We strive to match the right material to your comfort level of maintenance so that you’ll be happy with choice for the years to come.

Most stone surfaces can be cleaned with a soap made for natural stone or a mild liquid detergent. Some types of natural stone such as marble require a little extra love and attention.

spring cleaning tips

In addition to regular cleaning and maintenance we also highly recommend sealing your natural stone countertops annually. Having your countertops properly sealed prevents liquids from being absorbed into the pores of your countertops and bacteria to form. If you’re ever in doubt on when it’s time to reseal your countertops, we have a quick test you can do! Simply place a small drop of water on a highly used area of your countertop and if the water is absorbed then it’s time to reseal.

What’s the next step after choosing a stone material?

After you have found the right type of stone that fits your lifestyle you will choose a specific slab to work with. Natural stone is unique and each slab can have different veining, pattern and color so it is important that you choose the slab you want for your project.

What finish do you choose for your countertop?

Natural stone is available in a variety of finishes, and each offers its advantages. Polished is a more popular choice and a little bit easier to keep looking as nice as install day. But we always encourage you to pick the finish you will be happy with the look every time you walk into the room! Visit our countertop showrooms to see and feel these finishes in-person!
